Cholesterol-Reducing Bread

Abacor®, a patented soy composition from Nutri Pharma, Oslo, Norway, has been included in the recently launched Burgen “Cholessterol” bread from U.K.-based Allied Bakeries. The Abacor blend contains soy protein in addition to fiber and phospholipids. According to the company, Abacor has been pro­ven to be more than twice as effective at lowering cholesterol than the best commercially available soy protein. The launch of “Cholessterol” is the culmination of several years of development activity between Nutri Pharma and Allied Bakeries, solving the problems associated with delivering a high level of Abacor, while maintaining the structure and flavor of a premium sliced loaf.
